Cars with the standard floater rear-end must weigh 2450 with driver. Cars with the quick change rear-end must weigh 2500 with driver. The option to run the quick change rear-end here at the speedway is only available to the regular modified division and does not apply to the AAAModified or Rookie Modified division. |

| RECORD AMOUNT RAISED IN DILLONS FOOD STORES - KEYN 103.7 SEASON OPENER FOR MARCH OF DIMES It just continues to get better thanks to the 2500 plus race fans in attendance, the 25 volunteers from Dillons Food Stores, electronic media partner KEYN 103.7 for the 5th March of Dimes Season Opener here at 81 Speedway during the "All Day" sucker April 19 raised a record $3,054.29 for the March of Dimes. One Hundered and Sixty-four teams scattered through 11 divisions gathered for the season opener which featured heat races in the afternoon and all consolation and championship features in the evening. Thank to Pro Motorsports for the driver helmet donation that was autographed by many of the drivers. Thanks to Miller Beer, Special T's, Above & Beyond of Kansas City, Wendy's, Texas Roadhouse & the Kansas State Fair. All these great partners provided items for the March of Dimes auction that raised a little over $800.00. Thanks to the drivers taking time out of the evening schedule to make their way through the grandstand with their helmets raising nearly $900.00 for the MOD. The day started with 25 qualifying heat races! (That's enough for an entire program!) With the sun shinning down and "LITTLE WIND" on a perfect 70 plus degree day, the heat races were just that....cars running in a circle just to get a place in the evenings program. The intermission following the heat races provided race fans the opportunity to tailgate in the parking lot and infield area. Smoke from the grills filled the air around the speedway. Food, entertainment and stories were being enjoyed in all places of the speedway. A near capacity crowd was on hand for the consolation and feature events that provided plenty of excitement, action and side-by- side racing. All the teams started the day at 000 in points. Some of the season favorites did well in their respective division while others now find themselves in an early season climb. Without naming names, there are some rookies scattered through the divisions this year that may jump out and compete for a track championship. But the level of competition in all divisions is again what race fans have come to expect here at the speedway...... TOUGH!! from top to bottom. It was only the first race on a schedule of 98 programs this year for Speedway's Inc. and 81 Speedway, but what a way to start a season. Week two features the Sprint Cars, Credit King Modified, Wichita Boeing Credit Union AAAModified, Alternative Pest Management Rookie Modified, Street Stock and Thumper saturday night (April 26) at 7pm. |
