WICHITA NATIVE PASS'S AWAY AT HOME IN MUSKOGEE
Legendary race car driver Harold Leep passed away at his home in Muskogee, Ok. early Thursday morning (February 5, 2014). In 2000, Leep was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Ia. The same year he was also inducted into the BCRA (Big Car Racing Association) Hall of Fame in Lincoln, Ne. Leep was recognized that same year by his home track (81 Speedway, Park City, Ks.) as a member of the first class to be inducted into the legendary tracks Hall of Fame. In 2002, the Belleville Highbanks Hall of Fame would place Leep into their fraternity, and in 2007 Leep became a member of the Wichita, Ks. Sports Hall of Fame. Leep was a (5) time winner of the prestigous Hutchinson Nationals at the Kansas State Fairgrounds winning the Super Modified title in 1961, 1967, 1972, 1980 and 1983.
