NCRA & ASCS Double Down!!

HARVEST OF GOLD CHALLENGE - NCRA - ASCS!  Sunday, June 29

FOR IMMEDAITE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – June 24, 2014 - Sprint car action gets back underway this coming weekend as the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products sprint car division takes part in a weekend double header this Saturday and Sunday night, June 28-29 at two different racing venues in the state of Kansas. Both events will be co-sanctioned with the American Bank of Oklahoma American Sprint Car Series Sooner Region.

It all kicks off on Saturday night as both series head to Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kansas for the Sixth annual Steve King Memorial. The NCRA 360-ci sprint car tour last visited the west Kansas facility back in 2012 when it was Logan Forler who picked up the victory, his first career with the series. In fact, nine different drivers have reached victory lane at the track since 2006. Among them include Forler, Ryan Roberts, J.D. Johnson, Jason Martin, Mike Peters, Koby Barksdale, Don Droud, Jr., Garry Lee Maier and Gary Wright.

Both series then move east to 81 Speedway in Park City for a Sunday night showdown billed as the “Harvest of Gold Challenge.” to wrap up the weekend and all events will pay the standard $2000 to win, $300 to start purse.

Thus far during the 2014 race season, four different drivers have reached victory lane with two of those drivers earning their first career series victories. Jack Dover of Springfield, Nebraska won the last completed event held at 81 Speedway during the annual running of the “Hoosier Daddy” Father’s Day Spectacular. Longdale Speedway in Longdale, Oklahoma recently held their first ever NCRA sprint car event and it was Jeff Stasa earning his first career sprint car victory. Dover picked up the checkered flag in the series first ever appearance at Butler County Speedway in Rising City, Nebraska with Danny Wood claiming honors at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas back in April. Kevin Swindell took home the victory and $5000 in the season opener at 81 Speedway during the fourth annual “Air Capital Shootout.”

Former tour champion Jeremy Campbell of Wichita holds a 30 point lead over defending tour champion C.J. Johnson of Quinter, Kansas. J.D. Johnson sits third in the standings, followed by Danny Wood and Jon Freeman. Rounding out the top ten in the point standings are; Stasa, Luke Cranston, Raymond Seeman, Jake Greider and Kris Miller. Other drivers expected include Jordan Weaver, Michelle Decker, Wyatt Burks, Jake Martens and Zach Blurton. Greider also leads Seeman in the tours rookie of the year honors.

The ASCS Sooner Region is led by their current point leader Dustin Morgan. Drivers representing the series expected to be on hand this weekend include; Alex Sewell, Mike Goodman, Harli White, Sean McClelland, Kyle Chady, Zach Pringle and Robert Sellers.
