FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – April 1, 2013 - The biggest event for the Bob Howard PDC and Mopar National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products southern sport modified division will also kick off the tours fifth consecutive season this coming Friday and Saturday night (April 5-6) as the tour readies itself for the inaugural “Sport Mod Spring Scramble” set for 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas. Saturday night’s championship finale feature winner will take home $2000, the largest payday for the southern sport mod tour to date.
Note on special start time: Due to Wichita’s Wichita State University playing in College Basketball’s Final four tournament, start time both Friday and Saturday night will be 8:00 PM.
As mentioned, Saturday night’s championship finale will pay $2000 to the feature winner with drivers just making the twenty-four car field taking home $400. This event is NOT based on car count. Below is the official payout for this event:
A Feature: 1) $2000, 2) $1500, 3) $1000, 4) $700, 5) $600, 6-10) $500, 7-24) $400
B Feature: 1-5) Transfer, 6) $300, 7) $275, 8) $250, 9) $225, 10) $200, 11) $175, 12) $150, 13-14) $125, 15-24) $100
Last Chance Feature: 1-4) Transfer, 5-20) $100
Below is the itinerary for both nights:
·All cars/drivers must draw for two (2) different heat races
·Passing points will be added together to give you the starting position for Saturday night’s features
·The top fourteen (14) drivers will be locked into the “A” feature with the top ten doing a redraw on Saturday night for starting spots in the 50 lap Championship finale
Official NCRA southern sport mod or northern sport mod rules will be allowed and there is NO MIXING or rules.
For the first time in series history, pre-entries were accepted and once the deadline had passed, twenty drivers from three states are entered with more drivers expected and allowed to show up on race day. Among the entrants include all three former tour champions Chad McNamara, Todd Decker and Travis Johnson.
There will be an open practice session for all modified and sport mod drivers only on Thursday night, April 4th from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Pit passes are just $10 while grandstand admission for practice is free.
On both race days gates will open on at 5:30 pm with racing set for a 8:00 pm start time

Since 1971 the NCRA has sanctioned dirt track races across the Great Plains with the series currently sanctioning five other divisions. They include modifieds, southern sport modifieds, late models, 360 sprint cars, 305 sprint cars and new mod lites. The 2013 season for the National Championship Racing Association is the 43rd anniversary season with races scheduled at sixteen different race tracks across Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri.
